This 3 days starts and ends in Kampala. This is the shortest gorilla safari in Uganda, taking you to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest , South-Western Uganda, home to more than half of the remaining mountain gorillas in Uganda. The drive to Bwindi is one of the most scenic, leading you the Switzerland of Africa (Kabale Region) with its famous terraces, lakes and rivers, green plantations of matooke etc. Apart from the endangered mountain gorillas, this thick tropical rain forest boasts of a rich fauna and flora in the world. The Western Rift Valley adds to, its beauty and makes it share a vast number of animal and bird species endemic to the Albertine Rift.
Day 1: Enroute to Bwindi
Early in the morning, Our tour guide will pick you up from the hotel and take you to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The journey takes you past the Equator – Mbarara, the land of milk and through Kigezi Highlands also known as the Switzerland of Africa. you will have a stopover at the Equator for photography and in Mbarara town for lunch. Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Early in the morning take breakfast. The guide will pick you up for a transfer to the park headquarters where you will get briefed by a ranger guide on how you will successfully carry out gorilla trekking. After the briefing, embark on your hike into the thick forest for the opportunity to see the rare mountain gorillas in their natural setting. During the hike, you may also encounter different mammals in the forest. Bwindi protects different wild animals including the buffaloes, black-fronted duiker and more. There are various birds that can be seen in the park including Ansorge’s Greenbul, Equatorial Akalat, White-bellied Robin Chat, Short-tailed Warbler, Neumann’s Warbler and Red faced Woodland, Grey-headed Sunbird, Mackinnon’s Fiscal, Grey Cuckoo-shrike and butterfly species will also satisfy your anxiety. Later in the afternoon return to the Bandas for a rest. In the afternoon, go for a nature walk or go for the Batwa cultural Experience. The Batwa Experience is highly recommended given that your trip will contribute to the wellbeing of the Batwa, former inhabitants of the Bwindi Forest.
